The playbook Moonrank's Writer Agent uses to build pillar guides that own a topic — complete coverage, standalone sections, original assets, and a skim layer.
Download the methodology, see how the agent architects a pillar, or run it live inside the Writer Agent.
The Long-Form Content skill is how Moonrank's Writer Agent builds the reference page on a topic: a question list that justifies the length, sections that stand alone, at least one asset competitors can't copy, and links that make the pillar the hub of its cluster.
It's written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Read it to structure your own pillar, use it to audit the long pages you already have, or let the Writer Agent build the guide from your topical map.
Downloading the playbook is free with a Moonrank account. Building pillars against your live topical map and keeping them current is what the Writer Agent does.
“We wrote a 4,000-word ultimate guide and it sits on page two behind three shorter pages. Why?”
Your guide answers 9 of the 27 buyer questions on the topic and spends 1,800 words restating what page one already agrees on. The three pages beating you each answer more questions in fewer words. The fix: cover the 18 missing questions, cut the consensus filler to a summary table, add one original asset — your own data from 120 customer sites — and link out to the 6 supporting pages currently orphaned. Length stays at 4,000; coverage triples.
The topic, its buyer question set, and the supporting pages the pillar will feed and link.
The question list decides the word count — under ten questions, it recommends a focused post instead.
A navigable H2 skeleton where every section opens with its own quotable direct answer.
Original data or examples page one lacks, plus links to every supporting page with descriptive anchors.
A buyer question list that decides the word count — never the reverse.
An H2 skeleton designed as a table of contents, with jump links.
Each H2 opens with its own direct answer for readers landing mid-page.
At least one piece of data, quote, or worked example competitors can't copy.
Links to every supporting page, making the pillar the hub — not the whole wheel.
Tables, bolds, and summaries that deliver the core argument in three minutes.
