--- name: quick-wins description: Find the pages already ranking just off page one and ship the smallest change that moves them up. owner: Moonrank SEO Agent --- # Quick Wins The cheapest traffic you will ever get is the traffic you almost have. Positions 5–20 are pages Google already trusts; they need a nudge, not a rewrite. ## When to use - You need traffic this month, not in two quarters. - You have a large back catalogue and no idea which posts to touch. - Your content budget is smaller than your ambition. ## Inputs - **Required:** Search Console access (last 3–6 months). - **Optional:** conversion data, so value beats volume in the ranking. ## Method 1. **Pull:** every query where the site ranks position 5–20 with non-trivial impressions. 2. **Cluster:** group queries by the page that ranks, so you fix pages, not keywords. 3. **Diagnose:** for each page decide which of the four gaps applies — intent, coverage, title, or links. 4. **Estimate:** model the traffic gained by moving to position 3, using this site's own CTR curve. 5. **Rank:** sort by estimated gain ÷ effort, and cut anything needing a rewrite. 6. **Ship:** one change per page, then wait two weeks before touching it again. ## Output format A ranked worklist. For each page: - **Query**: the target it nearly wins - **Current position** and **impressions** - **Gap**: intent | coverage | title | links - **Change**: the single edit to make - **Estimated gain**: clicks/month at position 3 ## Prioritization rules - Position 5–10 first; 11–20 is slower and less certain. - Never batch three changes onto one page — you lose the read on what worked. - A page with high impressions and a terrible CTR is a title problem, not a content problem. - Skip queries you can't serve honestly; ranking for the wrong intent bounces.
The Quick Wins skill is how Moonrank's SEO Agent gets traffic out of a site this month: by finding the queries where you already rank 5–20, diagnosing why each page stalls, and making one surgical change instead of a rewrite.
It's written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Read it to work your own back catalogue, or let the SEO Agent pull the data, rank the opportunities, and ship the edits.
Downloading the playbook is free with a Moonrank account. Running it every week against fresh Search Console data is what the SEO Agent does for you.
“We have 200 blog posts and no budget for new content. Where do we start?”
Eleven posts rank 5–12 on queries with real volume. Nine of them have titles that don't contain the query at all — that's a CTR problem, not a content problem, and it's an afternoon of work. The other two need one missing section each. Estimated gain if they reach position 3: about 2,400 clicks a month.
The agent needs three to six months of query data to see where you already almost rank.
Opportunities are grouped by the page that ranks, so you fix pages rather than chase keywords.
Intent, coverage, title, or links — one of four gaps, each with a different fix.
A single edit, then a two-week wait, so you can actually read what worked.
Every query where the site is one nudge away from page one.
Queries grouped by ranking URL, so the worklist is pages and not keywords.
Intent, coverage, title, or links — named per page, not guessed at.
Estimated clicks at position 3, using your own site's CTR curve.
Sorted by gain ÷ effort, with anything needing a rewrite cut from the list.
A single edit per page per cycle, so results stay attributable.
